Josh and Chad considered to start a band, that unites aggressive melodies with punk-political lyrics and should provide for riot. Finally in October 94 Boysetsfire rehearsed for the first time in the cellar of Chad’s parents. Briefly after that they had their first public live-gig in the cellar of Nathan’s (at that time) flat in Newark/Delaware. In winter 94/95 boysetsfire released their first 4-tracks-demo. In spring ’95 followed the second demo “Premonition, Change, Revolt”.
In June ’95 boysetsfire finally started their first self-booked tour on the eastcoast, that guided the band 2 weeks through private living rooms, cellars, trailer-parcs and small clubs. In 1996 they toured the whole winter and the whole summer and they played on innumerable Hardcore-Festivals. In addition boysetsfire released an EP with 6 songs on it, called “This Crying, This Screaming, My Voice Is Being Born” (Magic Bullet Records) and a 7’ (“Consider”)with 3 tracks on it. In January ’97 boysetsfire signed on Initial Records and in march they recorded their first album in about one week. A tourbus called “Arnold Willis” was purchased, which broke down on the following tour through the northeast of the states. So the band had to take the regular bus for their 20h- way home. After this tour boysetsfire released another album with the title “The Day The Sun Went Out” in august, that provided large enthusiasm in various Underground-Hardcore-Magazines. Another Tourbus („Stella“) was bought, but it also broke down after their tour. In winter 97/98 and summer of 98 (last self-booked tour) they also toured through the states. Also the new Tourbus “Stella II” did not survive the tour without damages. After several breakdowns and damages to the engine (twice the engine caught fire) boysetsfire brought the fastened tourbus home and cancelled the rest of the tour.
In September 1998 the band recorded the 5-track-EP In Chrysalis in the Carriage House Studios and finally toured the first time through europe in november 98. In Spring 1999 followed a tour as support for Avail and the whole summer boysetsfire toured through the states. In October 1999 Rob Avery joined the band as a bassist and boysetsfire signed at Victory Records.
From december 99 to January 2000 Boystesfire recorded the album After The Eulogy with Nick Rotundo and Andy Katz in the Carriage House Studios. It has been released on april, 15th 2000 on Victory Records. [more]
